Hämeenlinna is beautiful city full of history

Hämeenlinna has around 68,000 residents. The city has a rich history and offers spectacular views of the beautiful Vanajavesi Lake, halfway between Tampere and Helsinki. The city’s castle was built at the end of the 13th century, and is not only an interesting sight, but also central in all of the city’s events. For example, the Häme Medieval Festival is organized every year at the Linnanpuisto Park, where residents have a great opportunity to get to know the medieval history of Hämeenlinna.

This lively small town has all the everyday services one needs close-by as a new shopping center, Goodman, opened in the city in 2014 with around 70 service providers. In 2013, Hämeenlinna constructed a deck for a 220-meter-long piece of the freeway, and the city’s largest shopping center was built on top of this deck. The shopping center was named after the Finnish singer Antti Hammarberg, more commonly known as Irwin Goodman.

Hattelmala is approximately five kilometers from the center of Hämeenlinna and the Häme Vocational Institute is just 500 meters away. Our Laaniitynkatu location is next-door to an S-Market grocery store. A school, kindergarten and healthcare services are located close-by, as well. Katumajärvi Lake is just around the corner and the apartments in the Pikkuaro building have access to a small forest from the yard. Downtown Hämeenlinna is just three kilometers from Idänpää. Both housing cooperatives have good parking for car-owners and the bus stops nearby, as well. The Hattelmala ridge offers a range of opportunities for outdoor activities. Beyond Avara’s location, the area is primarily made up of small apartment buildings and single-family houses.
